2018: AGM, Awards and Stretching!

There was a good turnout of members at Little Brickhill village hall for our annual AGM.

Our chairman, Lynn Morgan, thanked the committee members Mary Cloake, Karen Batemen and Sallie Rowles who retired in 2018, along with Zoe Thrower, Carol Buckingham and Charlie Morgan, who had provided tremendous help to the club without being on the committee. Jane thanked Lynn Morgan on behalf of the club for her work. Tracey Taylor has resigned as membership secretary and Lynn Morgan would like to stand down as chairman, but has kindly agreed to stay on temporarily. So we have vacancies and would love to hear from anyone who in interested in a position on the committee. Please contact Lynn or any committee member for an informal chat.

The club’s annual awards were presented. Victoria Cross won our Summer Dressage League by a huge margin and took The Caerphilly Boy Trophy. Sandra Calvert won the Outstanding Volunteer award for helping extensively at our dressage shows. Tracey Taylor & Hugo took the Shield for the Most Improved Combination. Sally-Anne Hicks swept the rest of the board, taking the Rococo Trophy as Participation League winner, The Silver Cup Team Trophy and the Shield for Outstanding Achievement award!

Congratulations to all our winners! Full details of the leagues and awards can be found on our website (https://www.aspleyguiseridingclub.com/league).

After the AGM we were treated to a very interesting and entertaining talk by Leah Clarke IIST ITEC, an Equine Sports Massage Therapist. She explained to us the principles of why, how and when to stretch your horse, showed us the most beneficial stretches that we could do with them. She also took us thorough how to do some simple stretches ourselves to improve our riding.
