When did you start riding?
I started riding when I was about 4 I believe, going to a local riding school on a Saturday morning and have ridden ever since.
Why did you join AGDRC?
I joined the club mainly because of how lovely, friendly and approachable the people are. Everyone is so supportive which I've struggled to find before and I've genuinely never heard any member say anything negative about anything or anybody - it's so refreshing! Since I've joined, the opportunities within the club just seem to keep coming and coming and I can't see myself leaving!
What horse(s) do you currently own or ride?
I currently own a 16.2 (and still growing!) Irish mare called Bella. I've broken her myself and she's only just 4 so we're taking things slowly and steady, but she's starting to appear at clinics etc. which is exciting! I also have a very gangly thoroughbred called Steve, who's super cute but in his try fashion is rarely rideable, so after 6 months off he's now back in work too - but he primarily will only do flatwork and dressage (he's teaching me loads about being elegant!).
What equestrian activities do you do?
I mainly produce young horses and re-school thoroughbreds off the track into a range of disciplines, however I have mainly Show Jumped prior to now.
Do you have a horsey goal or aspiration?
My goal is to keep Steve going as is, with limited more time off and build him up to the point he's out competing again at Dressage. My goal with Bella is to keep her confident and allow her to see as much of the world as possible, ready to start competing!
What are you most excited about with regards to being a member of the club?
I'm most excited about all the team events and the true team spirit that there is in the club - it's so supportive and I'm so looking forward to being part of one of those teams.
Do you have any "pre-game" rituals?
Usually our pre-game ritual is to be as organised as possible and the horses always get an east hack and a good day in the field the day before having to work hard for me! Organisation seems to play a massive difference in nerves for me and the way the horses go too!
What do you consider to be your equestrian career highlight?
My highlight to date has to be Steve coming sound after not thinking he would, and backing Bella at home with support of people around me - I never thought I'd have the patience to back my own but she;s been amazing and I've thoroughly enjoyed every minute!
